UPDATE - Alert from the NAC: San Onofre Beach

August 28: As reported previously, the Director of California's Department of Parks and Recreation had announced that the application of a nearly 30-year state policy respecting traditional nude use in certain sections of state parks was to be revoked at San Onofre Beach. The Naturist Action Committee (NAC) filed a lawsuit in July to force the state to hold proper public hearings before any change in the current policy that allows nude use at San Onofre Beach. The court ruled in NAC's favor, declaring that "the Cahill Policy, as interpreted by the Harrison letter, is a regulation." The court is requiring that the status quo be maintained in the interim.

This doesn't mean that the threat is over. If there are no successful appeals of that ruling, the public will have opportunities to provide input and commentary, and another round of letter-writing could be requested, although there is no need for any more letters at present. NAC does renew the following request, however, to all concerned naturists, especially those in California:

If you live close enough or travel to the area, continue to visit the traditionally nude section of San Onofre Beach, and record and report to NAC the details of any exchange with rangers (who have been instructed to inform beach users of the planned change).

	Midwest Male Naturist Gathering - June 11-15, 2008, Gaea Retreat Center, near Kansas City, Kansas. Join 175 naked gay men for this informal gathering at Camp Gaea which has over 100 very private acres of hilly woodland and grassland to explore and a lake with a swimming area, dock and boats.
	International Men Enjoying Naturism Gathering '08- July 6-13, 2008, Camp Ramblewood, Maryland. Last year 175 men attended from all over the world for a week of naked camaraderie and fun in this park-like setting in the rolling hills of northern Maryland.
	Gay Naturists International 24th Annual International Gathering - August 20-29, 2008 in Eastern Pennsylvania. Features entertainment and recreational activities, 800 naked men are expected to attend.
	West Coast Gathering 2008 - September 12-21, 2008 in California's Santa Monica Mountains. Join nearly 300 naked men from throughout North America, the Pacific, and Europe for up to 13 days of all male, all nude activities, camaraderie, workshops and fun. Weekend and half week sessions also available.
